An Unaccepted Miracle

The adults told the girl
That she couldn’t fly
But despite their warnings
The girl knew she could.

They spoke of those which would
With quote to envy not.
The girl remained silent
For their worlds were far apart.

Then, one day,
Without a sound,
She spread her wings and rose.

Now that they believe,
The girl has long been gone –
They only have themselves
To help them carry on.
